Jaguar XK

Car Numero Uno for Project Petrolhead is the beautiful Jaguar XK Coupe. Ours is an early 2007 car sporting a 4.2 litre, naturally aspirated V8 and stunning Frost Blue Metallic paint (bought specifically because we didn’t want a black or silver one) over a tan leather interior. Very classy.

The “Mighty Jag” has been pretty reliable, all things considered, only requireing new rear drop-links… And a new headlining… And a battery… And suspension bushings… And a new set of tyres every year… Hang on, it’s not been reliable at all!

That being said, we love it. The Jag is a solid fixture of PPH, warts and all. Now where did I put the bottle of coolant?

Ford Fiesta 1.6 Ghia

Our latest project might like positively microscopic next to the Jag, but it’s no less important. This 2005 Fiesta is basically a slightly more powerful and higher-spec version of my first car, and as such, that makes it just about the best car in the world.

Purchased for just £700, I’m setting out to turn this humble little supermini into the car I always wanted my first Fiesta to be. Scruffy on the outside perhaps, but able to ruffle some feathers underneath.

Is it a “forever car” like the Jag? Probably not. Until such time as I come to sell it, am I going to drive the hell out of it? Abso-bloody-lutely.
