2025: A Year In Review

To paraphrase William Woolard: Well, that’s another year done over, as it were.

As we trudge through the grey week between Christmas and New Years, I thought It’d be a good idea to do a brief summary  of what has certainly been one of the years of all time. First off, Project Petrolhead gained a new permanent headquarters (I moved house) with better infrastructure (slightly faster internet) and room to expand our operation (a driveway big enough for one-and-a-half cars). I also published some books, which was really quite enjoyable. I’m still not used to seeing my own name scrawled on the spine of a book on my shelf but as a writer (something I can now say), I’m sure these two will only be the tip of the iceberg. On the other hand, publishing the books was a massive pain in the arse, as it meant I had to try and figure out how to edit the website to get that bloody “Books” tab that none of you have ever clicked on!

Much like an octogenarian down some stairs, I’ve had some big trips this year, mostly up and down the country to look at slightly dodgy second-hand cars, but I did spend a few days in the Malvern hills driving a Morgan, which is always nice. Speaking of, 2025 was the year when I became an actual reviewer of actual cars, with actual proper road tests of the Morgan Plus Four and BMW 330e, and hopefully more to follow! In fact, I’ve really tried to make the site more professional this year. I don’t know if you’ve noticed but the columns have been getting longer, with more detailed dives into specific cars, rather than my usual scattergun “Look at all this cool stuff!” approach, it’s a style I’d much like to continue going forward.

I’ve also got another little project on the back-burner that’s a little less car-y. Truth be told, I’m a bit of a film buff, and I’m in the early stages of putting together a second website that should allow me to spout a bit more inane nonsense about my other big passion, so if that sounds interesting to you, let me know.

Finally, I just want to drop an enormous, heartfelt “Thank You” for all the continued support this year, it’s certainly been a whirlwind, and I couldn’t have done it without any of you reading this.

Anyway, to finish off that Woolard quote: “Next week we’re heavily into second hand cars, basically in Nottingham, lots and lots of good advice for you to pick up if you want to. Until then, see you then, drive safely.”

Couldn’t have put it better myself.
